SEND Day of Action

The day began with a rally outside Parliament, where families from across the country came together to share their stories, raise their voices, and demand urgent action on the crisis in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support.

We heard moving speeches from parents, young disabled people, campaigners and supportive MPs all calling for a system that treats families with respect and fairness.

Following the rally, a small number of campaigners were welcomed into Parliament for a drop-in event, kindly hosted by Jen Craft MP, where they had the opportunity to speak directly with MPs and peers. This face-to-face engagement helped bring the lived experiences of families into the heart of political decision-making. Some parents also met with the new Minister, Georgia Gould.

Later that afternoon, MPs took part in a Westminster Hall debate on SEND, providing a vital opportunity to raise the concerns of families and campaigners in Parliament. Several MPs referenced the rally, and echoed the urgent need for reform and greater investment in the system. It was encouraging to see the voices of families reflected in the debate.

Massive thanks and congratulations to the driving forces behind the rally – Let Us Learn Too and SEND Sanctuary – and to the Save Our Children’s Rights team for the debate.
